Hennen hits 2,000-point mark in win

Abby Hennen became the third Minneota girls basketball player to score 2,000 or more points in her career when the senior guard accomplished the feat on Friday night.
Hennen needed 27 points entering the Section 3A-North semifinals against Canby and finished with 29. She also scored 29 points in Monday's 3A-North championship, giving her 2,031 career points. Hennen would have had additional points to her total, but Minneota had two state tournament games cancelled last year due to the pandemic, and this year's schedule was reduced to 18 games.
Minneota will play in the Section 3A championship Thursday, March 25 in Pipestone witha chance to return to state.
Taylor Reiss is the program's all-time scoring leader with 3,038 points. Lydia Sussner is second on the school's all-time girls basketball scoring list with 2,197. There are 11 Minneota girls that have scored 1,000 points or more in their career.
