Hayfield’s 14 treys sink Vikings
Hayfield drained 14 three-pointers and topped Minneota 84-56 in a non-conference game Saturday in Hayfield. Minneota connected on just 3 of 14 shots from beyond the arc and shot 38 percent overall, while Hayfield shot 53 percent. Junior guard Ethan Slaathaug hit 4 of 7 treys among his game-high 24 points. Freshman guard Isaac Mattl made 5 of 7 three-pointers for Hayfield and finished with 20 points.
Logan Sussner sank 7 of 14 shots from the floor and led Minneota with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Jacob Citterman added 13 points, while Nolan Boerboom had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Alex Saltzer chipped in with six points, three steals and two assists.
Two others hit double figures for Hayfield; Patrick Towey finished with 19 points and Luke Dudycha had 11 points.
