Girls run over KMS 77-38

Abby Hennen and Natalee Rolbiecki combined for 51 points as unbeaten Minneota stymied Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 77-38 on Thursday in Kerkhoven.

Hennen tossed in a game-high 26 points, connecting on 9 of 18 shots from the floor, and made six steals.

Rolbiecki drained 10 of 15 shots, including a pair of three-pointers, to finish with 25 points, three steals and three assists.

"Great games from Abby and Natalee," said Coach Chad Johnston.

"Natalee had a great all-around game as she was aggressive going to the basket, posting up, and getting offensive rebounds."

Morgan Hennen injured her ankle midway through the first half and did not return.

"Other girls had to step up and fill that position," Coach Johnston noted about the loss of his senior forward.

"Abby Rost also did a wonderful job of playing aggressive and playing on the boards."

Rost delivered nine points to go with five rebounds and two steals.

Jeren Rost added eight points and three rebounds. Ireland Stassen notched four points and a team-high six rebounds, while McKenna Yost had three points and McKenzie Tolk added two.

Minneota (11-0) started slow and had only 28 points at halftime, although that was due to the Fighting Saints slowing the pace of the game. Still, the Vikings led 28-17, utilizing a suffocating defense that forced KMS into numerous turnovers.

Minneota cashed 10 of 15 free throws and only committed five turnover, while forcing KMS into 23 turnovers for the game.

"We played good defense in the first half, but we did a poor job boxing out and gave up too many second and third attempts. We did a much better job in the second half."

Madison Rohner paced KMS with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
