Girl tracksters win sub-section; Send many to sections

Perhaps the best chance to make the state for the Canby-Minneota girls is the 4x800-meter relay.

While they ran their best time of the year at 10:07.4 on Thursday, they finished just second. But, "They can still take some time off that," said one observer.

As a team, they took the Northwest Sub-Section 3A title with 133.5 points to second place Lakeview at 112.5.

But most important, with the top four from each event going to sections and the C-M girls placed many individuals in next week's Section 3A Meet at Pipestone on Thursday, June 1.

Final team scores were: 1. Canby-Minneota 133.5; 2. Lakeview 112.5; 3. Montevideo 109; 4. Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd 107; 5. MACCRAY-Renville Co. West; 69.5; 6. BOLD 59.5; 7. Hendricks 57; 8. Central MN Christian 26; 9. Yellow Medicine East 24.
