Gillingham, relay team bow out

It looked pretty good for a while, but eventually, the Canby/Minneota girls 4x400-meter relay team couldn't make any more of that magic — and bowed out in the preliminaries.
Friday's state prelim saw the relay squad putting itself in position to place with a third palce most of the first-two laps. Drietz and Lizzy Gillingham gave them a chance.
But somewhere between Braelyn Merritt and RyAnn Hansen they fell back in the back and finished in 10th palce overall in 4:04.19. That wasn't quite good enough to make the finals.
Eventually, on Saturday, Pelican Rapids would win the 4x400-meter race in 3:59.56.
