Football, volleyball moved to spring; to begin March 15

The Minnesota State High School League announced on Tuesday afternoon that high school football and volleyball has been moved to the spring amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cross country will be allowed to start in the fall with a limited number of participating teams and a reduced schedule. Cross country approved by a 17-1 vote of board members, can begin practice on Aug. 17.
Football and volleyball will now be played from March 15 to May 15.
The Spring sports season will tentatively take place from May 15 to July 15.
Minnesota is the ninth state to delay the high school football and volleyball season.
