Extra inning win for Junior Vultures

On Tuesday night the Jr. Legion Vulcans beat MACCRAY/RCW 9-8 in 10 innings.
“It was one of the best games I have ever been apart of,” said Coach J.D. Pesch.
MACCRAY/RCW is a combination of two high school teams and last year they made it to Junior Legion State out of our district and placed fifth in state.
AJ. Myhre started the game and pitched four very good innings.  Josh Schuelke pitched two good innings and Thor Fischer closed the last five innings, just giving up one run.
“He did a fantastic job,” said Coach Pesch about Fischer.
Josh Schuelke put down a bunt in the bottom of the tenth to move Cooper VanOverbeke to third (after he hit a lead off double), then a sacrifice fly by Carter Schuelke down the right field line scored Cooper with the winning run
“We hit the ball well against very good pitching. But most of all we, “Played the game” taking extra bases, bunting, sacrificing and stealing. These kids can play. It’s very fun to watch them, they keep a good positive energy throughout the game and are very unselfish.  Good team play,”
 said the coach.

Jr. Vultures fall in extra innings
The Minneota Jr. Legion Vultures dropped a 6-5 game in eight innings at Hutchinson last Friday.
“Thor Fischer and Ben Skorczewski pitched very well,” said Coach JD Pesch.”We played a good game against a very good team. We hit well, pitched well but need some work on understanding of the game. We’re making progress,” said Pesch.
