Canby-Minneota finished 5th in high kick at the section 3A meet on Saturday.

Dance season ends for C/M

Canby-Minneota finished up its dance season at the Section 3A meet on Saturday in Montevideo. The Sensations placed fifth in High Kick and seventh in Jazz out of 14 teams competing. Lac qui Parle Valley-Dawson-Boyd was first, Yellow Medicine East second and BOLD third in both High Kick and Jazz.

The top two teams in each category advance to the state meet Feb. 13-14 at Target Center.

“It’s an extremely tough section,” said Canby-Minneota Coach Jordyn Stutelberg.

“We wish the teams that advanced the best of luck and hope that they represent Section 3A well.”

Stutelberg was pleased with her team’s section performances.

“We ended the season on a high note with two strong performances,” she said.

“I am extremely proud of the girls. They really did an impressive job. This season has been my favorite. The girls have come together as a family. They encouraged and pushed each other to new levels."

The Sensations’ five seniors -- Stephanie Birk, Natalie Bot, Elle Pieper, Madison Scholten and Merissa Traen -- competed for the last time. “They will be dearly missed,” said Stutelberg.
