Canby/Minneota boys, girls place first in YME triangular

Blake Stoks and Grace Drietz led the Canby/Minneota boys and girls cross country teams, respectively, to wins at the Yellow Medicine East triangular Thursday in Granite Falls.
The Minneota team members have not yet been able to participate as secondary students are currently distance learning due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Lyon County.
The Canby/Minneota boys were one point from a perfect score en route to finishing with 17 points. YME was second with 47 points and Lakeview had an incomplete team.
Stoks finished first in the boys race in a time of 18:25. Kolton Duis was third in 18:40, Zach Ourada was fourth with a 19:57, and Blake Giese finished fifth in 20:05.
The Canby/Minneota girls finished first with 21 points, while YME was second with 42 and Lakeview had 59.
C/M took the top four individual spots. Drietz was first in a time of 19:58, Claire Stoks second in 21:06, Braelyn Merritt third in 21:23 and McKenzie Ruether fourth in 22:08
"It was a beautiful day for a run," said C/M Coach Allyson Pesek.
