C-M girls win 10-team YME meet

Relay teams boost boys to 2nd

The Canby-Minneota girls won their second meet of the early season, finishing ahead of nine other teams in the Yellow Medicine East Invitational on Thursday in Granite Falls.

The Vikings had 158.5 points, while Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd was second with 124 points and BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector was third with 91.5 Canby-Minneota finished 1-2 in the 400 dash with Grace Dreitz winning in a time of 1:03.04 and RyAnn Hansen right behind in 1:03.14.

Dreitz also won the 3200 run in 11:34.93 with Faith Traen finishing third.

Hansen also placed third in the long jump, with Lizzy Gillingham fourth.

The C-M 4 x 100 relay team also took first place in 1:53.90. The Vikings scored well in most of the events; with points award to the top eight individuals or relay teams.

Braelyn Merritt finished second in both the 800 and 1600 runs, Mackenzie Janiszeski was second in the shot put, Isabelle Hennen was third in the 200 dash.

Aidyn Bruns was third in the 300 hurdles, Mackenzie Hemish and Delaney Houseman tied for third in the pole vault, Hannah Jelen was third in the discus, and the 4 x 100 relay team came in second.

Relay teams boost boys to 2nd

The Canby-Minneota boys had a strong showing in the 10-team meet, finishing second to Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd.

Carter Wente went 42-10.5 to win the triple jump, with teammate Jaden Kindopp second with a 39-5.

The Vikings were strong in all four relay events.

The C-M 4 x 200 relay team took first-place honors in a time of 1:36.21, just ahead of TMB. And the 4 x 400 relay team was also first in 3:41.79, topping YME by over four seconds.

And the 4 x 100 team was third and the 4 x 800 team was fourth. Jared Joseph ran to a second-place finish in the 400 dash, with AJ Josephson taking third in the event. Blake Stoks was third in the 1600 run, Cameron Anderson was third in the 110 hurdles, and Ty Stoks was third in the 300 hurdles.
