Buysse 3A Assistant Coach of Year

Matt Buysse has been selected as the Section 3A Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year, it was recently announced.
Buysse has been an assistant coach under head coach Matt Myrvik the past two seasons, and has been assisting with the program for the past five years.
"I have known Coach Buysse since he was a youth wrestler," said Myrvik. "I have had the opportunity to not only coach him as a youth and high school athlete, but to coach alongside of him. He has been an outstanding coach and teacher at Minneota High School."
Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, CO for three years, and was an assistant coach for the Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team for one season.
Buysse graduated from Minneota High School in 2007 and was a standout wrestler who compiled over 100 wins in his career while qualifying for the state tournament three times. He also played football and baseball at Minneota.
After graduating from Minneota, Buysse attended the University of Jamestown (ND), wrestling one season and also playing football.
He is currently the Agriculture Teacher and FFA advisor at Minneota, where he is also an assistant football coach.
"Matt has had an undeniable positive impact on the kids, and he puts the best interest of his students and athletes before his own," said Myrvik. "Matt has grown a lot over the years that he has been on coaching and I know he will continue to work hard to improve and become an even better coach."
Matt and his wife, Kaley, an elementary math teacher, live in Minneota and they have two children, Ryker and Maddox.
