On the Bench with Byron Higgin

Nice job for Austin

Austin Buysse, third baseman for the Minneota Mudhens had some good news this week. He announced on Facebook that, “I’m thrilled to announce that I have accepted a job at South Dakota State University as the Athletic Facilities and Event Manager.

” He said he would be mainly working at the Dana J. Dykhouse Football Stadium and the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex!”

“I’m so excited for this incredible opportunity and want to thank everybody who helped me get to this point!

I have some big shoes to fill and I am pumped for the challenge and opportunity,” said Buysse. He’s the same guy who made a big splash this summer by catching that home run in Omaha at the College World Series.

Catching it while holding a beverage without spilling it, then guzzling it, earned him attention far and wide.

Last word was the piece was well over a million hits. Buysse also had a nice season playing for the Mudhens. He went to bat 107 times officially, with 39 hits, scored 19 runs and knocked in 19 runs.

He batted .439 on the season. We’re glad to see such a deserving young man land this rather nice job.

Congratulations Austin!
