On the Bench with Byron Higgin
The Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament at the FargoDome hasn’t been as valuable for Minneota wrestlers as it used to be. Part of the reason is the injuries the Vikings have occurred in recent years.
Several wrestlers have been held out of action at Fargo during the Christmas Holidays due to injuries or other reasons. And some have been put down from the varsity to the JV to give them competition better suited to themselves. As a result, it’s come down to one or maybe two Minneota wrestlers who have a chance to do well in the tournament.
The important thing is to learn as much as you can, but not come out with a bunch of injuries. This year may be much the same for the Viking wrestlers. The three injured wrestlers, Jackson Esping, Landon Rolbiecki and Austin Kloos won’t wrestle for sure.
Not sure when they will return. A couple of others may also be held out of the action or enrolled in the B squad tournament.
Yet, it’s a valuable time for the wrestling program and a lot can be learned at Fargo. Teams in attendance this year include:
