The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s volleyball team (10-0, 2-0 NSIC) tops the latest AVCA Top-25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Monday, earning the No. 1 ranking for a second straight week.
SMSU has now defeated top-25 teams in its last six matches after wins over No. 9 Augustana and No. 17 Wayne State last week to open NSIC play.
The Mustangs have started the season a perfect 7-0 against ranked opponents. They improved on the best start to a season in program history with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 sweep over No. 17 Wayne State (6-4, 1-1 NSIC) in the Mustangs home opener on Saturday afternoon in the PE Gym.
Senior setter and all-time SMSU career assists leader, Megan Larson, had 39 assists and added three kills in addition to her six digs. Hitter Taylor Reiss had 14 kills and four blocks.
Brooke Borchardt also had four blocks.
