Brock Fox homered for Minneota.

Another shot at Madison — same result

For the second time in two weeks, the Minneota Legion got a chance to beat Madison.

And the the second straight time, they lost the same way, 8-4 both times — and both because of "one big inning."

"It was the same result," said Coach Keven Larson.

"Thomas Hennen was cruisin' along until the third when he lost his control," the coach said.

Minneota led 3-0 after a two-run Brock Fox home run in the first and an Alex Pohlen double and Henry Pesch triple in the third.

But Madison erupted for six runs in the third — keyed by Cole Bungarden and Braden Kittelson doubles.

Minneota couldn't recover.

They scored one more time on a double by Austin DeVlaeminck, but that was it.

"We hit the ball a long ways, and out hit them, but some were just long bombs. Pohlen and Mark Laleman hit the ball within five feet of being home runs — but got nothing for it.

"It was just one inning when we couldn't find out way out of it," said Larson.

He didn't want to throw Preston Nuy in relief, but his pitching corp was depleted and the graduated senior had to come on in relief.

Minneota will play a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Thursday at home against Dawson. Between games, the team will retire the No. 11 of Donnie Schuelke.
