The Minneota Speech Team opened its varsity season on Saturday — and very successfully, we might add. As a team, they took home the second place overall trophy.
Following a successful season in 2017, the Minneota Speech Team is excited for what's in store for 2018. “Last year was a great year,” said Coach Kim Gades.
Minneota’s six state speech entrants came away from the state meet at Apple Valley Saturday with a lot of valuable experience.
“The kids did a great job,” said Coach Kim Gades.
Moms, dads, grandpas and grandmas and friends all got a chance to hear members of the speech team at a special, “Speeches & Sweets” event on Monday.
Minneota’s speech team has clinched state berths in four categories by placing in the top three at the Section 3A meet on Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
“Don’t talk to any of the contestants,” I was told.
“And they can’t talk to you,” she added.
Minneota's Brenden Kimpe studied for his extemperaneous speaking speech at the sub-section tournament on Saturday.
On Saturday, the Viking Speech Team attended the SMSU Invitational in Marshall with over 300 other entrants.
