Paula Rhymer

Paula Rhymer, 57, of Taunton, died on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.

Mass of Christian Burial for will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota.

Visitation will continue from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Taunton.

Paula Jean (Breyfogle) Rhymer was born on November 23, 1959, in Winona, MN, to Darrell and Martha (Kronabetter) Breyfogle. She grew up in Taunton and graduated from Minneota High School.

Paula obtained her degree in accounting from Southwest State University. On August 21, 1982, she was united in marriage to Howard “Rusty” Rhymer. The couple lived in Marshall and Rochester before purchasing what became Rusty’s Café in Taunton in 1988.

Paula worked as an accountant for many local employers including the Lyon County Co-op, Runnings, Minneota Manor, Buysse Roofing and Prairie Pride.

She had a long battle with cancer including breast cancer and leukemia.

She wished to share the following sentiment with her dear friends and family, “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for if you can only remember me with tears, don’t remember me at all.”

She is survived by her husband, Rusty Rhymer of Taunton, daughter Ashley (and Jeremy) Hanson of Hartford, SD, son Dustin Rhymer of Marshall; grandson Evan Hanson; parents Darrell and Martha Breyfogle of Taunton; siblings Peter (and Nancy) Breyfogle of Shoreview, Mike (and Allyson) Breyfogle of Taunton, Kevin (and Laura) Breyfogle of Edina, Bryan Breyfogle of Springfield, MO, Pamela (and Doug) Hirdler of Fountain, CO, Patti Breyfogle (and Eric Bartolotto) of Fillmore, CA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
