Marie Stoks

Marie Therese Stoks, 87, of Marshall, died Tuesday, July 11 at the Regional Medical Center in Marshall.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 4-8 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Home in Marshall.

There will be a CCW Rosary at 7 p.m.

A second visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 13 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall.

Burial will be in St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Taunton. Marie Therese Stoks was born on April 1, 1930 to Adam and Bertha (Dittberner) Thielges, one of 15 children.

She grew up on a farm near St. Leo, Minnesota; was baptized, confirmed, and attended Catholic School in St. Leo.

She married Henry W. Stoks on August 24, 1948 at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, MN. They built a home in Taunton, raised a family and were involved in the community for nearly 50 years.

She was a homemaker — specifically known for her fresh bread and caramel rolls.

She worked as a housecleaner for “pin money”, and in semi-retirement - she and Henry were custodians at the State Bank of Taunton.

Marie was active in Sts. Cyril and Methodius CCW, and was the recipient of a Bishop’s award. Marie and Henry enjoyed dancing, playing cards, raising a garden, and volunteering.

Marie and Hank moved to Marshall Square Apartments in 1998 and became active members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church — their faith being an important part of their lives.

Henry passed away in 2004. In Marshall, Marie worked as a Daycare Grandparent at the YMCA, and a classroom helper at Parkside Grade School and Headstart. She moved to Boulder Estates in July 2016, enjoying their many social events and gardening.

Marie is survived by six children: Shirley & Roger Przybys, Marshall MN; Kenneth & Jodene Stoks, Apache Junction AZ; Thomas & Diane Stoks, Sleepy Eye MN; Michael & Danette Stoks, Marshall MN; Joann & Mark Evjen, Dawson MN; and Dennis & Pam Stoks, Norwood Young America MN.

Fourteen grandchildren: Sara & Nabil Belbachir; Kendra & CJ Porter; Travis & Heather Stoks, Dustin & Becky Stoks, and Casie & Jason Miller; Chad & Sabrina Stoks, and Joel Stoks; Dylan & Shannon Evjen, Taylor & Amy Evjen, Clayton & Cassie Evjen, and Asha & Dan Godfrey; Erin & Jake Schrupp, Barrett & Amy Stoks, and Brian Stoks.

Thirty-two Great Grandchildren: Jesse Przybys, Zachariah and Mariam Belbachir; Gracie, Greta and Garrett Stoks; Colin, Kadin, Landin, and Westin Stoks; Leyton and Reese Miller; Micayla and Marley Stoks; Naomi and Declan Evjen; Kaitlyn, Amelia, Calvin, Jackson, and Maple Evjen; Hailey, Mason and Vivian Evjen; Henry, Madeleine, and Isabelle Godfrey; Alison and Bryson Schrupp; Finley, Charlotte, and Whitten Stoks.

There are two more great grandchildren coming.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” Stoks; a daughter, Baby Marie Stoks; and a great granddaughter: Madelyn Stoks.

Marie is survived by siblings: Luverne Thielges of Canby MN, Sister Janet Thielges OSB of St. Cloud, MN; Al & Ann Thielges of Marshall MN; Lucille & Dave Welu of Cherry Creek IL; sisters-in-law Kathleen Thielges of Canby MN and brother-in-law Rex & Geri Livermore of Sioux Falls SD; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by the following siblings & spouses: Della & Ray Forsblad, Rita & Oscar VanDeWiele, Irene Thielges, Art & Carol Thielges, Donald & Marge Thielges, Matt Thielges, Phyllis Livermore, Alice Thielges, Ralph Thielges, Jeanette & Jerry Hennen.

Marie is survived by the following members of Henry’s family: Rita Stoks of Canby MN, Dorothy Cull of Heartland WI, Mary & Francis Van Hecke of Minneota MN, Vincent & LaVonne Stoks of Marshall MN, Lorraine (Coquyt) & Hank Goblish of Marshall MN, and Richard & Jeanette Stoks of Shakopee MN. She is preceded in death by the following in-laws: Margaret & Larry Cull, Harold & Madonna Stoks, Frances & Cyril Vanden Broecke, William Stoks, Donald Stoks, Tom Cull, and Walter Coquyt.
