Marie Rose Boerboom

Marie Rose Boerboom, 91, of Marshall, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.

Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Rose will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall.

Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Marshall.

Interment will follow the service at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent. Marie Rose (Van Keulen) Boerboom was born on May 10, 1927, in Ghent, to Hubert and Martha (Verkinderen) Van Keulen.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. On August 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edward Boerboom at St. Eloi Catholic Church.

The couple farmed and raised their family near Ghent until 1979 when they moved to Ghent. Marie worked hard on the farm.

She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and playing rolle bolle. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making Belgian cookies.

She was voted as the best pie maker by her children and grandchildren. Marie also had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her garden.

She enjoyed traveling especially trips to Belgium to visit family. She and Edward wintered for many years in Mesa, Arizona.

For the last several years, Marie has been living at Boulder Creek in Marshall.

She is survived by son Thomas (and Susan) Boerboom of Shakopee, grandchildren Lindsey and Taylor (and Martin), daughter Judy (and Dale) Crowley of River Falls, WI, grandchildren Ben (and Jennifer), Jake (and Tracy), Clint (and Annika), son Mark (and Jo) Boerboom of Ghent, grandson Zac (and Jamie), son Patrick (and Linda) Boerboom of Minneota, grandchildren Tyler (and Sara), and Todd (and Kayla,) step-granddaughter Rachel (and Jamie) Rippel; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Lorraine (and David) Maertens, Richard (and Jean) Van Keulen, Edward (and Rose) Van Keulen; sisters-in-law Lois Van Keulen, Geraldine Carrow and Prudence “Putz” Boerboom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, granddaughter Jessica and many brothers, sisters and in-laws.

Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
