Swedzinski a Legislator of Distinction

State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, (R-Ghent), has received Legislator of Distinction recognition from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities for his “positive impact on the state’s environmental policy.”

The CGMC credited Swedzinski for being a consistently strong advocate for environmental initiatives during the 2017 legislative session.

Most notably, the group cited the fact he was the chief author of key legislation signed into law this year that allows cities more time to review permits and comment on the impaired waters list.

“This legislation will be especially beneficial to smaller cities in Greater Minnesota that have smaller staffs and city councils that meet less often than others,” said Swedzinski, a member of the House Environment Finance Committee and the conference committee on the 2017 omnibus environment bill.

“This change simply gives them some breathing room in completing the process and lifts some of the costly burden of regulation. I am pleased about this accomplishment and this recognition from CGMC is an honor to receive.”

The CGMC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing 90 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
