While snow, winds and cold temperatures put most outdoor activities on hold, but this little guy didn’t let it bother him and he took to the slide at the Tri-Minn Apartments on Madison Avenue in Minneota. Then he was off to the races, most likely enjoying the new snow.

Storm hits us

A major winter storm moved into the center of the country just days after Christmas, but has continued to bring enough ice, snow and wind to cause dangerous travel conditions into the start of the new week.

In Minneota, Saturday brought icy conditions and tough decisions for drivers. By Sunday the snow began to fall — and it did so in two portions, once early in the day and another time late, with the total accumulation between eight to 10 inches.

The storm began to intensify as it expanded over the weekend.

Freezing rain in the Minneapolis area on Saturday morning glazed roadways, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Multiple accidents were reported across the state the in the Twin Cities the weather caused bus services to be suspended.

The Minnesota State Patrol advised against travel across the state Saturday morning.

There was little traffic Sunday morning in Minneota, but the city crew had the streets plowed for travel before the second phase of snow hit the area.

On Monday, the snow plows were busy locally, many were digging out — but the area was still on notice that more snow could be coming.
