Officer Thompson now on duty in Minneota

Minneota Police Chief Bill Bolt has announced Officer Austin Thompson, “Has obtained his POST license and now has full police authority.”

Thompson, a native of Minneota, recently completed his training of 100 hours and is, in Chief Bolt’s words, “Doing well.” “The remainder of his training will be intense as he takes calls for service while I shadow him,” said the chief. “With limited department funding for training, it’s important for him to take on as much responsibility as possible.”

Summer internship ... “Jonathan Monterroso continues to impress and is a very positive member of the team,” Chief Bolt said about the summer intern. “He never complains about unpleasant tasks and is asking good questions as to why and how we do police work,” said the chief.

Community Meeting ... At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, the Minneota Police Department, Sheriff Eric Wallen of Lyon County and Captain Casey Meagher of the State Patrol will meet with community residents and council members to provide the community with the opportunity to have face-to-face contact with the heads of local law enforcement agencies and to answer questions.
