Motorcyclists show up in Minneota

They rode, about 300 of them, to promote safety, and honor those who have died in traffic accidents. The 16th Annual Minneota Memorial Run raised enough funds to benefit Lyon County Relay for Life.

Friends and family members of road and highway accident victims in the Southwest Minnesota area who want to keep their memories alive established this event.

Part of the event included sharing memories, stories, music and prizes before the band, “Roxbury” played for the audience.

The Run itself left Minneota at noon going past the Minneota Manor back to Highway 68 then making planned stops in the following towns: Tyler, Lake Wilson, Slayton, Breezy Point, Balaton, Ghent then back to Minneota.

The Run covered approximately 130 miles. The Minneota Fire Department served the meals.

A memorial plaque dedicated to our lost loved ones hangs on the wall in the Minneota Community Center with their names inscribed.

Those who have lost someone in a motor vehicle accident added names to the plaque again this year. About 300 riders joined the event.
