MINNEOTA PUBIC LIBRARY FEBRUARY NEWS
We have nearly 30 patrons participating in our Winter Reading Program: “Get Wrapped in Reading.” Prizes await those library patrons when they finish reading eight books by the end of February — are you halfway there yet?
This year, we are “wrapping” ourselves in warm things like socks and blankets (some of our prizes), and the “warmth” that comes from reading a good book! As part of the Winter Reading Program, Plum Creek Library System is offering a “Wrapped in Reading Author Tour.” All of the author events will be held virtually on the four Tuesdays in February. All virtual events feature Minnesota writers. This is the time of year that the Friends of Minneota Library conducts a fundraiser to benefit the library’s programming and support building projects. We are selling tickets for a raffle drawing of prizes. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Library, Brad’s Market, Gislason Ace Hardware, This and That Recreated, or from members of the Friends of the Minneota Public Library. Please buy a ticket! We appreciate your support!
We’ve recently added new jigsaw puzzles, some with less than 200 pieces and many with 300 pieces or 500 pieces. Puzzling, which many adults find to be both meditative and engrossing, is particularly well-suited to our cold Minnesota winters. Putting a puzzle together with your family members is a great way to spend time together, visiting and puzzling at the same time. I often will borrow an audio book from Libby (available to you if you have a library card) and listen to books while working on a jigsaw puzzle.
If you’re going to spend a weekend with grandparents, bring along a puzzle from the Minneota Library. We also have some board games you may borrow.
