Minneota named law enforcement training site

Minneota has been named a law enforcement training site for Use of Force and Firearm instruction.

Southwest Minnesota has a shortage of qualified and affordable law enforcement training for state mandated courses.

Police Chief Bill Bolt has become an instructor and will provide his services. “A secondary benefit is the training program will become a positive influence on officers in other communities.”

IN OTHER action the board:

•Approved the purchase of an eternal light to replaced in the Veteran’s Park. The cost was $500.

•Approved a 14-foot, eight-foot wide extension to the Press Box at K. P. Kompelien Field.

•Approved 40 foot by 60 foot by 12 foot building at 220 S. Jackson Street for Tom Myhre.

•Approved a liquor license for the Boxelder Bug Days Committee for the softball tournament being held this year.

Also approved a liquor license for St. Edward Church and gambling permits for both St. Edward Church and the Boxelder Bug Day Committee.

•Approved combing a November polling place for Nordland and Westerheim Townships at the Minneota City Hall. The combined voting precinct was done to minimize the purchase of new voting machines.

The townships apparently are willing to share in the costs of the new equipment.
