Minneota’s special gift to Valentines

It’s taken on an almost “surreal atmosphere,” and many folks use it as their “Valentine’s Day Gift,” to the special person in their lives.

Minneota’s “Chocolate Affair,” is a gift that keeps on giving and now it’s become not only a yearly sensa- tion, but a special moment for many.

For instance, Seth and Theresa Myhre always use the event to try out their newest dances.

And the fact is, many others come just to watch them. While it’s simply them dancing, it’s almost become a “viewing spectacle,” that’s part of the event.

And the band — well, the local “Route 68 Big Band,” is not only a point of pride for local residents, but it’s become an institution.

The band, directed by Minneota School Director John Voit, is composed of area musicians and singers.

But it has retained its “home town feel,” and includes many Minneota residents.

Of-course, it’s a bonanza for chocolate lovers.

The dipping fountain is a hit each year and the many varieties of chocolate make it an event to remember.

Friends of the Library members, who sponsor the annual event, still have tickets available.

Tickets are at the Minneota Library; Brad’s Market; Gislason Hardware and in Marshall at Music Street and Hy-Vee.

A Silent Auction is also a big part of the evening that annually brings a couple of hundred people to the event.
