Memorial Run set for Aug. 19

The 16th Annual Minneota Memorial Run, promoting motorcycle safety awareness, has been set for Saturday, August 19, 2017.

Registration will be from 10:30 a.m.-Noon outside of City Hall Bar & Grill along Highway 68 in Minneota.

Proceeds will benefit Lyon County Relay for Life. The Minneota Fire Department will be selling lunch during registration. T-shirts will be for sale the day of the Run for $15.

Proceeds of the t-shirt sales goes toward the 2018 Band. Friends and family members of road and highway accident victims in the Southwest Minnesota area who want to keep their memories alive established this event. This event is not only for motorcycles, but all vehicles.

After all, we all share the road! The Run will be leaving Minneota at noon going past the Minneota Manor (south side), back to Highway 68 then making planned stops in the following towns: Tyler, Lake Wilson, Slayton, Breezy Point, Balaton, Ghent then back to Minneota.

Run is approximately 130 miles. After the Run, everyone will meet behind City Hall Bar & Grill to share memories, stories, food, drink, music, prizes and have an overall good time.

From 5:30–6:30 p.m. the Minneota Fire Department will be serving a meal with hamburgers and bratburgers (meal is part of registration fee).

Meal can also be purchased by the general public. Program at 6:30 p.m. followed by door prizes and live music by Roxbury from 8:00-midnight.

A memorial plaque has been dedicated to our lost loved ones and hangs on the wall in the Minneota Community Center with their names inscribed.

If you have lost someone in a motor vehicle accident and are interested in having his or her name added to the plaque, or for more information on the Run, call Eriann Faris at 507-530-3573.
