Ghent contracts with Sheriff

The Lyon County Board Tuesday approved a 2019 law enforcement services contract with the City of Ghent to provide police coverage in the community.
The previous contract has expired. The new contract will run March 1 to Dec. 31, 2019. The rate will be $1,910 per month for a minimum average of 10 hours per week.
The yearly cost to Ghent from March to December is $19,108.
“This contract is a little different. We will operate on a schedule of so many hours per week,” said Sheriff Eric Wallen.
