Ever wanted to 'Dunk a Democrat'?

Grand Opening of DFL Headquarters Set for June 27

If you’ve been paying attention to state or national politics, you may have heard mention of a coming “blue wave.” The expression refers to the anticipated series of Democratic victories in the upcoming midterm elections.

The wave appears to be hitting Minnesota as well. The Minnesota DFL Party is experiencing an influx of new members and new candidates vying for office.

Excitement and enthusiasm are running high. The opening of a new DFL Campaign Headquarters in Marshall is evidence of this surge of energy in the DFL party.

Located at 1301 East College Drive, the office visibly demonstrates the party’s renewed presence in this area.

“We’re really excited about this new space,” said Ben Walker, Chair of the Lyon County DFL Chapter.

“This will be a great resource to help elect our local candidates as well as those running for office at the state and national levels.”

A Grand Opening of the new Campaign Headquarters will be held Wednesday, June 27, from 6:30-8:30pm.

Attendees will be treated to free Schwan’s ice cream and root beer floats. There will be an opportunity to meet Tom Wyatt-Yerka, candidate for State House (District 16A).

"Best of all, there will be a dunk tank and the opportunity to “Dunk a Democrat.”

“Whether you’re Democrat or Republican—perhaps especially if you’re Republican—you may have always wanted to dunk a Democrat. Well, here’s your chance,” joked Walker.

“It’ll be a fun way to vent your political frustrations.” Tours of the new headquarters will also be provided, continued Walker.

“Come on out and check out our new space. Meet others who are working for positive change. It’s going to be a fun evening.”
