Deaths of 2 in Minnesota River under investigation
The identities of two men whose bodies were pulled from the Minnesota River on Sunday, in two separate incidents, have been released by the Renville County Sheriff's Office.
The individual found caught in a log jam on the river between Franklin and Morton Sunday afternoon was Matthew James Wrobleski, 48, of Willmar. The manner of his death is still under investigation.
The man pulled from the river Sunday evening was Lance Edward Scheer, 19, of Redwood Falls. He reportedly drowned while swimming near Vicksburg County Park, south of Renville. A 911 call said the man was swimming without a life jacket and began to struggle in the water.
According to a news release, the Renville County, Redwood County and Lyon County sheriff's offices assisted, as well as the Department of Natural Resources and several local fire departments and First Responders.
