Council moves ahead on proposed home development

Development of a proposed Twin Homes development north of the Minneota Manor along Monroe Street and County Road 10 was proposed to the Minneota City Council Monday night, known as the Gorecki Land Development.

Bruce Laleman and John Noyes appeared before the council asking the city to approve development of two, two-home complexes in that area.

If they are developed, more could be developed in the future. The city estimates the cost of developing the area for the project would be $650,000 plus another possible $250,000 for an extra road and for moving the current burn site.

“The burn site would have to be moved because nobody would want to live with the site still there,” said Councilman Tim Koppien. The City of Minneota would hold a tax referendum to pay for the city's portion of the project.

“The next step is to get some financing scenarios laid out,” said Councilman Jerry Teigland. “There are a couple of others who have shown interest (in developing this area),” said Councilman Teigland. So far, this is still a “concept plan,” and “it can all be altered,” said City Administrator Shirley Teigland.

She said, “Realistically building could be in the spring.” She said better prices and ability to work not the project could be done better at that time. Laleman indicated construction could begin as soon as possible.

Councilman Teigland made the motion to “move forward” on this project.

“At this point, that’s all this is, moving forward,” said City Administrator Teigland.
