Big Lou’s Barber Shop is closing

After nearly two years cutting hair and giving close shaves, Bruce Reyell officially closed the doors on his Big Lou's Barber Shop in Minneota. Reyell cited a difficulty in paying for rising overhead costs as his reason for closing.
"I just can't afford to stay open anymore," said Reyell, who began operating in Minneota on Aug. 9, 2016.
"I'd prefer to stay in Minneota if I can. I'm looking for investors now so maybe I can open up a shop somewhere."
The payments and operating expenses on the house at 109 N. Adams St. where Big Lou's Barber Shop was located were getting to be too much for Reyell to handle, so he is weighing his options of where to live and whether or not he will open another barber shop in the future.
Reyell was the only barber within 70 miles that offers close shaves and shaved hair designs. The name of his former barber shop is derived from his dog "Loucious".
"I had a lot of clients, but I just didn't have enough to pay the bills," he said.
"It's been a long road to get where I'm at today. So I'm hoping to continue doing what I enjoy in the future."
On his Facebook page, Reyell wrote on Sunday: "It's sad today that my first post in along time is to say that I am closed until further notice. I want to say thank you to those that have been with me from the start and have supported and sponsored me over the last two years. I've laughed loudly and cried softly with each and everyone of you and I truly hope this isn't goodbye but a 'I'll see you soon' post. If not, just remember that I've been blessed to be your local hometown barber and it's also truly been my honor to serve you."
