Avera gets prestigious ‘Innovation of the Year’ award
Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall received the Innovation of the Year in Patient Care Award from the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) for its work on initiatives aimed at preventing suicide.
The MHA Innovation of the Year in Patient Care Award honors a hospital or health system that has developed or implemented creative, new methods and models for the delivery of patient care.
The award was granted to Avera Marshall for its involvement in Zero Suicide, a key concept of the 2012 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, which offers tools and strategies aimed at preventing suicide.
In the fall of 2015, Avera was among early facilities nationwide to launch a Zero Suicide program, and Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center’s Behavioral Health program has been involved in this initiative from the ground up.
