Area Memorial Day programs set

Memorial Day Programs in the area on Monday, May 29 include:

•Ghent Engels Wilson American Legion Post 564
9 am ceremony at the St Eloi Catholic Church with a roll call of the dead, followed by a ceremony at the St Eloi Cemetery, with a 21-gun salute, flag ceremony, and a special reading by Pat Byrne. Lunch follows at the Town Hall.
 

•Minneota American Legion Post #199
Program starts at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Building in Minneota and will end up at the Veterans Park with the reading of the Light a Light for Our Veterans, along with the new Veterans Paver presentation. The event should conclude at about 9:30 p.m.

•Taunton American Legion Post 604
Special event at 9 a.m. at the Community Center in Taunton with guest speaker Marc Klaith, Boys State participant Matt Lipinski, special music performed by the Swedes. There will also be a special ceremony at the Taunton Cemetery following the program. All are invited to return to the Community Center for a community brunch immediately following the conclusion of the service at the cemetery.
