Anna Fier passed away on Tuesday

Anna Fier, 81, of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls after sustaining a devastating injury on Friday, October 13.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 6 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.
She was working at her part time job as at tree nursery and had been plowing with a tractor when the accident occurred.
“We suspect that the tines in the plow became full of mud and they needed to be freed up in order to aerate the soil and kill weeds,” said a family posting on Caring Bridge.
Ann was found lying on gravel and she had been run over by the tractor wheel across the chest.
“We suspect that she freed up the tines on the plow and then got back on the tractor and it jolted when she put it into gear and it ran her over,” said the family.
Fier had broken collar bones, numerous broken ribs, bilateral pneumothorax with chest tubes, a spleen laceration, a broken pelvis, and had required medications to keep her blood pressure at a proper level said her daughter Lynda Thompson.
But Tuesday Fier lost the battle to recover.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota.
