Workshops on Dairy Risk Management Strategies

“Dairy Risk Management Strategies” is a short workshop conducted jointly by the Farm Service Agency and University of Minnesota Extension, comparing the new Farm Bill’s Dairy Margin Coverage and other risk management strategies of Risk Management Agency’s Dairy Revenue Protection and Dairy Livestock Gross Margin.

This two-hour workshop will use spreadsheets and other tools to analyze how the new Dairy Margin Coverage compares with the old Margin Protection Program.

Prices for the different coverage levels and the pounds of coverage will be examined. In addition, the new Risk Management Agency’s Dairy Revenue Protection program which works similar to a crop insurance product that provided quarterly coverage will be compared with Dairy Livestock Gross Margin.

Knowing your cost of production is important; tools to help calculate your cost of production will be shown.

There will be a workshop in Marshall on Tuesday, July 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the SW West Central Service Coop, 1420 East College Drive.
