Swedzinski responds to ruling on Gov. Walz's California cars initiative

State Rep. Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent) issued the following statement recently after a state administrative law judge signed off on Gov. Tim Walz’s California cars initiative he is seeking to implement via administrative rulemaking, bypassing the legislative process. Swedzinski is the lead Republican on the House Climate and Energy Finance and Policy Committee.
“We continue to hear from constituents from across the state that they absolutely do not support implementing California’s car standards in Minnesota and forcing auto dealers to stock vehicles that may not sell, which will drive up all vehicle prices,” Swedzinski said. “Rather than forcing another mandate from on high, we urge Gov. Walz and the Pollution Control Agency to work with the legislature and auto dealers to find a more practical and workable way to reach the state's air quality goals.”
