St. Edward students selling raffle tickets for chance to win new car

The Catholic Schools Raffle returns this winter to St. Edward School, giving those interested in turning $5 into a new car or $20,000 in cash, while also supporting your local Catholic school.

Beginning on Tuesday, students from St. Edward School joined students from 89 other schools across Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota selling the raffle tickets.

Each ticket gives buyers the opportunity to win a grand prize of either a 2020 Buick Encore or $20,000 in cash. In all, prizes totaling $40,000 will be given out to ticket holders from among the 90 schools.

All proceeds from the sale of the local raffle tickets will go to the St. Edward School, thanks to Catholic United Financial, the raffle's sole sponsor.

Catholic United Financial, based in St. Paul, provides all the prizes and promotional material for the raffle at no cost to the participating schools.

The Catholic School Raffle has raised over $8.5 million for the Catholic schools involved in the promotion in the previous 10 years it has been held.

Catholic United Financial is challenging the 90 participating schools this year to collectively raise $1 million during the six-week selling period. To help reach this overall goal, St. Edward School has set a goal to raise $5,000.

The money raised allows schools like St. Edward to provide tuition assistance, update technology systems, or to cover the cost of special learning opportunities like guest speakers and field trips.

Tickets are now on sale and run thru March 1. Tickets are available at the St. Edward School.

The Grand Prize drawing ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. on March 12 at the Catholic United Financial Home Office in St. Paul.
