St. Edward’s to hold new office Open House

The St. Edward's Church office, previously located on the south end of the Rectory, has been relocated to the former convent building's chapel room. An Open House for St. Edward’s new office will be held from 2-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1.

The former convent building is located behind the school and west of the Rectory. Caren Buysse has had a full plate when it comes to taking care of the finances of five area churches. Now she has a full office to go along with it.

“There is much more room here now,” said Buysse, the secretary for the St. Edward's and St. Eloi Churches in Minneota and Ghent, respectively.

“The Religious Education Coordinator Tina Myhre also has an office upstairs with hours on Wednesday from 8 to 10 a.m.,” adds Buysse.

Buysse also is in charge of the finances for the St. Leo (in St. Leo), St. Peter (Canby) and St. James (Dawson) Churches.

The former nuns' convent building has been used for several years by the Knights of Columbus for meetings. The building is also still being used for events such as weddings, gatherings and bridal showers.

The Knights of Columbus have been renovating the building the past 18 months, including the addition of a wall to make a separate conference room.

They also painted, put in new flooring and replaced the old chapel windows. Father Craig Timmerman will now use the south end of the Rectory as his office.
