New member appointed to MNsure Board of Directors

On March 5, Governor Walz appointed Stephanie Stoffel to the MNsure Board of Directors. Stoffel will be the small employer representative, replacing former board member Edgardo Rodriguez.

She will serve as a member of the MNsure board from March 10, 2020, to May 5, 2023. Stoffel resides in North Mankato and works at Scholarship America as the vice president of technology. She leads the organization’s efforts in technology development, planning, delivery and security. Stoffel served on the board of directors for the United Way of Mankato in addition to a number of other nonprofits.

She received her B.S. from Minnesota State University, Mankato and has completed work towards a master’s degree in telecommunications from St. Mary’s University.

“We are fortunate to have Stephanie representing the interests of small employers on our board,” said Chair Kathy Sheran.

“With her many years as an IT and business leader, I know her insight will be an asset as we continue to look for ways to enhance the customer experience for Minnesotans seeking health insurance.”

MNsure board members are appointed by the governor through the state's open appointments process and confirmed by the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives.

The commissioner of Human Services is a standing member. Board members serve staggered four-year terms and are limited to two terms of service. All appointed members must have demonstrated that they do not have conflicts of interest. Additional information about MNsure's Board of Directors can be found here.

MNsure's seventh open enrollment period ran from November 1, 2019, through December 23, 2019. Minnesotans who experience a qualifying life event, such as having a baby, getting married, or losing their employer-sponsored health insurance may be eligible for a special enrollment period (SEP).
