Moorse receives Best in Show award
Grady Moorse, left, and his six year old Saanen goat CH Moorse-G Story of My Life, received a brand new goat fitting and milking stand for winning the Minnesota 4-H Dairy Goat Showcase Best in Show Senior Doe on Friday. This award is sponsored by the Synder family, Pamela Synder, middle, Elizabeth (Synder) Lange, right, and Marc Synder (not pictured) of Buffalo Lake. Marc Sydner said, “ Both our children showed goats at the state fair for years. We asked the show coordinator (a friend and 4-H judge, Mark Jaeger) why there was not a best of show for dairy goats like they had for cattle, swine, sheep, etc. He said it was because no one sponsored it. We were already sponsoring a couple showmanship and breed awards at the time and decided to look into what we could do for a best of show. The following year our son Nathaniel died from suicide and we decided to do the best in show in his memory. We have been providing the stands, rosettes and plaques since the 2014 fair. Grady’s goat is the first Saanen to win best of show.” Contributed photo.
