As I write this, August 7, the Minneota Library has been open for one month after being closed from March through June, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. During this month I have had a chance to get to know some of the library’s regular customers and have become reacquainted with The Plum Creek Library System and the workings of a local library. I’m excited to have this position as head librarian, and I thank all of you who have wished me well in my new job. I also want to thank Mary Buysse and Elana Nomeland for all the training they’ve given me.
We recently added some new books to our library holdings and we welcome all our patrons to come in and browse what’s new. If you’re not a regular visitor to the library, I invite you to come in and see this beautiful library and the books we have to offer.
Because the Minneota Library is part of the Plum Creek Library System, if there is a book you would like and we don’t have it here, we can order it quite quickly from another PCLS library. We can also order a book you would like through an inter-library-loan system. We are here to serve!
As we receive new books we also have to make sure there is room for them on the shelves. Occasionally, we have to withdraw some books from the collection. We offer those for sale in the library, asking for a donation.
Below is a list of some of the books we’ve added to the library:
Fiction — Big lies in a small town by Diane Chamberlain; The Night watchman by Louise Erdrich; A Good neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler; You are not alone by Greer Hendricks; My dark Vanessa by Beatriz Williams.
Non-Fiction — Brother and sister: a memoir by Diane Keaton; Stamped: racism, antiracism and you by Ibram Kendi and Jason Reynolds; A very stable genius by Carol Leonnig; When time stopped by Ariana Neumann; The Book you wish your parents had read by Phillipe Perry.
Inspirational — Collateral damage by Lynette Eason; The Way of the brave by Susan May Warren.
Westerns — A Hill of beans by William Johnstone; Billy the Kid by Peter Meech; Texas outlaw by James Patterson.
