Larson receives Foundation scholarship

Sydney Larson, employed at Minneota Manor Health Care Center, was presented with a scholarship from the Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation, an organization committed transforming care and service delivery for seniors and persons with disabilities through education and leadership development.

Larson, a Certified Nursing Assistant who has worked at Minneota Manor Health Care Center for two years, was presented with the scholarship by Jill Schewe, Care Providers of Minnesota Housing Director.

In attendance were her parents, Keven and Kari Larson and Minneota Manor Staff.

Nearly 52 applicants applied for scholarship monies; of those, 14 employees were selected as scholarship recipients. Students will use the assistance to further their professional development within the field of long-term care, including nursing, social work, occupational therapy, and nursing home administration studies.

The scholarship recipients represent a broad cross-section of employees and long-term care centers from across the state.

The $30,000 awarded this year brings the total dollar amount of scholarships given to date to more than $480,000. Scholarship monies are raised by the Foundation through their annual golf tournament, a silent auction held at the Care Providers of Minnesota convention and other contributions.

Kathy Johnson, Administrator and Tammy Esping, Director of Nursing said, “We are so proud that Sydney was chosen to receive a Care Providers of Minnesota scholarship. She is a wonderful example of the caring staff at Minneota Manor Health Care Center.”
