Hope Lutheran will join St. Paul’s for one service Sunday

Because of a remodeling project at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, there will be a joint worship service with St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26.

Hope Lutheran Church will be closed that entire week, from Aug. 20-26 until the project in the Fellowship Hall is completed. Hope Lutheran will be doing an asbestos abatement because of the floor tile underneath the carpeting.

A new flooring will then be put down. “The carpeting is old and worn so it needs to be replaced,” said Scott Josephson, the Chairman of the Congregation at Hope Lutheran Church.

“The floor tile underneath the carpeting also has to be taken out because it has asbestos in it.”

The law states that any renovation project in which asbestos is present must include the removal of the asbestos if the room is greater to or equal to 160 square feet.

“Our Fellowship Hall room is way bigger than that,” Josephson said. Hope Lutheran Church is expected to again hold worship service on Sept. 2.

In other news, Hope Lutheran Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Church will participate in the community worship service at 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 during Boxelder Bug Days in the Bug Square. The service is open to the public.

Picnic table seating will be available, but those attending can also bring lawn chairs if they choose.

There will be no services at Hope Lutheran or St. Paul's Lutheran on that day.
