Avera Marshall allowing limited visitors

Avera Marshall made some moderate changes to ease visitor restrictions in the hospital and clinics beginning June 8.
Clinical Appointments: Patients are encouraged to attend clinic and outpatient appointments, alone when possible. Obstetrical patients can have one support person join them. Other patients will be allowed to bring a visitor at the discretion of the care team. As in the past, children may be accompanied by parent(s)/guardian(s) and a support person can come with patients with confusion, altered mental status or developmental delays.
Hospitalized Patients: One visitor per day will be allowed for patients in the hospital and surgery department. For pediatric hospital patients, two approved guardians will continue to be allowed to visit - one in the room at a time. Visitors must stay in the patient room and cannot be in common areas such as the cafeteria.
Emergency Patients: As in the past, one visitor will be allowed for emergency patients in situations that require medical decision making or for patients who are agitated.
Long-Term Care: Avera Morningside Heights Care Center remains closed to visitors at this time to protect the very vulnerable long-term care population.
Patients and visitors must wear masks and will be screened for temperature and symptoms of COVID-19 before entering the building. Patients and visitors are urged to wear a face mask when arriving. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided.
Patients and visitors alike are still asked to observe social distancing of at least six feet between people whenever possible, for example, at registration areas and in waiting rooms. It may be necessary for care providers to be closer than six feet in order to conduct examinations.
