“Christmas in the Village – A Winter Wonderland”

“Christmas in the Village – A Winter Wonderland " will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Historic Chippewa City, which is located at the junctions of Highways 7 & 59 in Montevideo.

This 41st year celebrates snowmen, snowflakes, icicles and ‘Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland’! Throughout the day, a variety of events will be ongoing.

At 10 a.m., the Candy Shop and Bake Sale will be open to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Area artisans will be located in heated buildings and will offer unique gift items including hand-crafted jewelry, ornaments, holiday and home décor, pepper mills, turned wood items, wooden toys, embroidered towels, local honey and beeswax, baby blanket, wood signs & blocks, gnomes, prairie photography and more!

The Gift Shop will also be open and will feature original work by local artists.

Other fun activities for the whole family include visiting Great Grandma Claus beginning at 10:30 a.m., horse drawn rides from 12 - 3 p.m., children’s passport snowman hunt 10 – 3 p.m., and a visit with Santa Claus from 1 - 3 p.m.

Exhibits and displays will be featured in Village Hall. Remember to stroll throughout the Village to see all of the buildings decorated for the holiday season. The annual printed program will highlight the day's activities.

Cheesy Turkey Hotdish, buttered green beans and dinner roll will be available to warm you up in the lunch line. Corn dogs and chips are available for the youngsters or young at heart.

Family favorite’s lefse, krumkake and rosettes, hot cocoa, coffee and hot cider will also be served! Serving will begin at 11 a.m. The old-fashioned radio show will be held at 11 a.m., with an encore presentation at 1:00 p.m.

The wayward angels, Herald and Gloria, will return in another new, original script. This year Herald and Gloria will experience “a winter wonderland”!
