Vikings rout Red Rock

Yellow Medicine East scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 4-3 victory over Minneota on Monday at K.P, Kompelien Field.
Drew Almich picked up the win on the mound for the Sting, scattering eight hits and allowing two runs, while walking none and striking out five in 6 1/3 innings. Jake Odegard finished for the save.
Brody Larson absorbed the loss despite giving up just two hits and one earned run over six-plus innings. He walked three and struck out seven. Peyton Gillund pitched the seventh inning and gave up two hits.
Minneota had three errors that led to two unearned runs for the Sting. YME played error-free.
Jackson Lacek had two hits, including a double, for the Vikings (6-2). Isaac Pohlen and Ryan Dalager each drove in a run.

Vikings rout Red Rock
Ryan Dalager pitched one-hit ball over five innings and was backed by an 11-hit attack as Minneota whipped Red Rock Central 12-0 on Friday at the Milroy Irish Yard.
Dalager walked five and struck out seven before giving way to Peyton Gillund, who pitched one inning and struck out three as the Vikings invoked the 10-run rule after six innings.
Gillund went 3-for-5 at the plate and drove home two runs, Brody Larson had two doubles and drove in two runs. Peyton Sheik also had two hits and knocked in a run.
Isaac Pohlen, Ryan Meagher, Eli Gruenes and Parker Bradley had one hit each.
The game was deadlocked at 0-0 until the Vikings got on the board with one run in the top of the fourth and never trailed, following that inning with five runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth.
Besides its 11 hits, Minneota also parlayed its 12 runs with the benefit of eight walks and three Red Rock errors.
