Homers power Mudhens past Chokio

Tyson Sonnenburg clubbed a grand-slam home run, Alex Pohlen added a three-run shot, and Peyton Gillund drove in four runs as the Minneota Mudhens routed the Chokio Coyotes 12-2 in seven innings on Friday in Chokio.
Ryan Dalager went the distance for the win, The right-hander allowed only three hits and two earned runs, while walking eight and striking out nine.
Chokio took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as the Mudhens didn't get the bats sizzling until the sixth and seventh innings when they plated six runs in each frame.
In the sixth inning, the Mudhens got the rally started with one out when AJ Myhre walked, Ben Skorczewski singled and Tate Walerius walked to load the bases. Brock Buysse then plated Myhre with a single and Gillund followed with a two-run single that scored Skorczewski and Walerius for a 3-1 lead. Pohlen then slugged a three-run homer to boost the lead to 6-1.
In the seventh inning, the Mudhens parlayed three hits and three walks into six runs. Josh Schuelke led off the inning by drawing a walk. With one out, Jackson Lacek walked and stole second. Gillund then rapped another two-run single for an 8-1 advantage.
Minneota, which amassed 10 hits in the game, reloaded the bases when Pohlen walked and Austin Buysse singled ahead of Sonnenburg's second homer of the summer, clearing the bases and giving Minneota a 12-1 lead.
Chokio managed a single run in the bottom of the seventh, but was unable to plate one more run needed to avoid the 10-run rule.
Gillund finished 3-for-5 and scored twice. Pohlen and Sonnenburg had two hits apiece. Fourteen players saw action for the Mudhens.
