Winter Story Hour begins Oct. 15

The Minneota Public Library will soon start its Winter Story Hour program. This is a story hour for kids ages 3-10 and will be held every third Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. We will begin on Saturday, Oct. 15.
At that first story hour, we will “test drive” a few of the “Story Book Kits” that Plum Creek Library System has put together for its member libraries. The kits contain several books with the same theme, along with some learning toys, stuffed animals, puppets, or puzzles that Minneota Library patrons, along with all of the Plum Creek Library users, will see something different when they log onto the library catalog.
Plum Creek Library System has launched Aspen Discovery System that will make it easier to search the catalog and discover what’s available at all the libraries and clearly show all the forms in which books are offered: book, ebook, audible book, kindle, etc. This new discovery system will allow patrons to quickly put books on hold as well as provide book recommendations.
There is also an app that can be downloaded so one can search the library catalog from their smart phone. Books, audio books, Libby and Hoopla ebooks and audiobooks can all be reserved from the phone app. The app is called LiDA — Library Discovery App. It also stores your library card’s bar code and other information, like if you have overdues or if there is a book waiting for you. Plum Creek is the first library system in the state of Minnesota to offer the Aspen Discovery System. Happy Autumn Reading
