Superintendent's Report

To the supporters of the Minneota Public School District:
We NEED your HELP!
Up until a few weeks ago, our district had been doing well managing the virus, but that quickly changed with a district outbreak. Unfortunately, that forced us to move to distance learning.
As we begin our transition back to in-person learning, I would like to discuss what needs to be done to give us the best chance to be in-person learning and be able to participate in activities for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
It is the responsibility of EVERY person in the community (and surrounding communities) to do his/her part to help slow the spread of the virus. The actions you take directly impact our ability to keep outbreaks from happening, thus, helping keep our kids in school.
I strongly encourage you to take the following actions:
(1) Have your children stay home when they are sick. Going to school sick will only make the spread of the virus worse.
(2) Have each member of your family get a COVID test if you feel somebody might have the virus. Electing not to test may only cause the virus to spread more.
(3) Communicate with the district if your children are sick, have taken a COVID test, or they are close contacts. This information is vital for the district to have to help with the management of the virus. Please contact Barb Knutson, COVID Coordinator, at barb.knutson@minneotaschools.org, or she can be reached at 507-872-6175 extension 1158.
(4) Have each member of your family wear masks in public.
(5) Social distance whenever possible. The actions of our community will help dictate how our students will be able to learn for the remainder of the school year.
Thank you for your time and understanding with this very difficult topic.
